Any person can benefit from taking steps to improve their mental health and well-being. Reaching out for help does not mean “there is something wrong with you”, or that you have a “disorder” or a “serious problem” it is simply an act of self-care. Therapy can help you navigate through difficult life challenges or it can be a process of self development that can improve the quality of your life.
The duration of therapy can vary significantly based on individual needs and goals. As we progress, we will collaboratively assess your progress and determine the appropriate length of treatment to ensure you achieve your desired outcome.
Sessions usually last 50 – 60 minutes.
Session frequency is determined collaboratively and depends on your specific needs. It may range from weekly to less frequent sessions.
Consultation fees are in accordance with standard medical aid rates as approved by the Board of Healthcare Funders of South Africa. Please email me for more information – nicole@pottaspsychologist.co.za
I operate a cash-based practice where clients pay me directly after each session. A mobile card machine is available for this purpose. I then provide you with an invoice that you can submit to your medical aid for reimbursement.
Prescribed minimum benefits (PMB) are a set of defined benefits to ensure that all medical scheme members have access to certain minimum health services, regardless of the benefit option they have selected.
If you have a mental health condition that is on the list of PMB’s then your medical aid should cover either in or out of hospital mental health treatment. In essence, medical aids allocate a certain amount of psychology sessions depending on the mental health condition.
Only if you meet the diagnostic criteria of a condition on the PMB list following my own thorough evaluation. I will then do the application and send it to your medical aid for approval.
